rear brakes

I had not ridden in some time. When I went out I had no rear brakes. The pedal won't pump up. Are issues common on 94 1500 with master cyl, or hydraulics?

If neglected, the hydraulics do go bad. With regular fluid changes, they last seemingly forever.
