88 gl1500 intercom
I have a 1988 gl1500 need help with the intercom. Ok so i know my headsets and cables are good. When i plug in to the front headset plug i can hear music and i can hear myself talk. When i plug in to the rear headset plug i can hear music and i can hear the the other person talk. But i cant talk its like the mic is muted for the passanger. I have checked for power and for a good ground. I used a multi meter to test for power since its a low voltage system and i get around 4 volts of power from the hot wires. So i have no idea why I can't get the mic to work. Any help on this maybe there are more wires for it i need to check?

While I haven't had to fight that problem, I have had to deal with dirty or corroded contacts in switches that have been around for (in my case) 31 years. Before you resort to blasting power or something major try cleaning the switch contacts and see if that helps. Sometimes just working the switch a number of times will get it working.

Re: 88 gl1500 intercom
Since I've never used the icom I had to do some looking myself and this is what I found:

Seems the trx button isn't needed for the intercom.

The problem nwas in the radio the power wire for the passanger mic from the radio had no power to it. Looks like the solder for that plug on the radio board was damaged

Glad you were able to find that one, hopefully a little solder and you will be back in business.
