1988 GL 1500 emissions
My question is about the manufacturers emission controls. The manual says its a federal crime to remove or alter any of the emission controls but the bike is 33 years old. In New York they’t even check the emissions on a motorcycle during yearly inspection. I doubt they are working anyway at this time. Is it still illegale to remove the emission controls? I don”t see any info on the DMV web site.

Of course it is, just like it is on a car. Do they care? Not much, outside California. You're more than safe ripping it out if you so choose.Gcappy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 3:45 pm My question is about the manufacturers emission controls. Thanks for the reply. I did read somewhere about the emissions controls being required for (The Usable Life of the Vehicle), not sure what that means or if it is describing a certain year term.
