Hi all,
I'm planning on replacing the vacuum lines on my '98 GL1500 SE and don't particularly want to go with the Honda brand replacements, if I can even find the parts these days. Can anyone who replaced the vacuum lines with non-Honda hoses tell me what sizes you used to replace the originals, and what lengths you bought? I know the pink cables around the air cleaner are 3.5mm inner diameter, but the stuff buried under the carbs I'm really not sure of, and would like to have it on hand when I actually need it.
Thanks,
J.

I got my sizes off the parts fiche for my 88. I just looked, and they are not listed anymore. Sorry, I do not remember the sizes. I did that project 9 years ago. I would check and see if the dealer can give you the sizes. They are metric. I just purchased bulk hose off Amazon. That was the only place I could find metric hose. The local auto parts stores do not carry it.

Here is a thread from another fourum. It shows the sizes and appx. amount to purchase. Lengths are in bulk. Vacuum hose is relatively cheap so any left over won't matter much. Good luck.

You'll need 3mm, 4mm and 6mm hoses:
Amazon: 3mm x 10 ft silicone vacuum hose
Amazon: 4mm x 10 ft silicone vacuum hose
Amazon: 6mm x 10 ft silicone vacuum hose
I had these pictures saved, not sure where they came from:

Amazon: 6mm x 10 ft silicone vacuum hose

Hi - Saw your post there!! - If you are going to change out your vac lines you will need to know what system you are working on first - Yes?? - The Honda GL 1500 has 7 inductions systems on the early models and on the later models they went down to 6 systems.
I myself have just completed the task and have completely renewed all the vac lines on my 1989 k wing. I would strongly recommend you watch this YouTube video by Shane martin it explains all 7 induction systems (six in your case the high-altitude compensation system being the one omitted on later models and the removal of the carb control unit in favor of a direct ecu control unit.).
After watching the video - you will be able to identify each system by the colour coded banding on each hose e.g. - White is for air. The pink vac lines you are referring to are part of the Hot air induction system.
Here is a link to if you want to service and check out the system for correct operation on the Hot air induction system- (pink vac lines).

watch the video - it took me at least three viewings before I got my head around it the video was used to train Honda dealer mechanics who were scared to death to work on a GL 1500 because of the complexity of the bike.

Lastly - If you check out this how too I posted on how to renew your cruise control vac lines you will see what's involved too.

If you have any further questions, please P.M me as I don't no longer post replies on the forum thank you.

I had a similar issue with vac Lines.
Replaced 1 and fixed the other 2.
