Weird starting noise
My 1999SE makes this "skreee skreee skreee" sound when it' turning over, especially after it sits for a while. It does start easily. My mechanic doesn't know what it is beyond "it makes a weird starting noise." Is this anything to worry about?

Re: Weird starting noise
Could be the bearing in the starter that is making the noise.

Re: Weird starting noise
Thanks. I was thinking something might be going wrong with the starter motor. I hope it holds out for a while. It seems like replacing the starter is quite a job.

Re: Weird starting noise
Any noise when using reverse? If there is an issue with the starter I would expect some noise in reverse as well.

Re: Weird starting noise
I used reverse just the other day and I don't recall anything similar. I have her up on the stand with her clothes off at this point. When I'm done replacing the timing belts and doing a couple other things I'll try reverse again.
