Best New Tires for a 99 Aspencade???
My rear tire got a screw in it, so I'm now in the market for new tires.
I know there are already posts about tires, but those are older. I'm looking for the latest information on what are the best tires for a 99 Aspencade. I'm not going to go darkside, so this is strictly motorcycle tires. I want something that will provide a comfortable ride but still grip the road on turns really well. I'm in California, so I don't need great rain riding. On the few occasions it does rain here, I take my car. I'm not beholden to any brand and the longevity of the tire would be secondary to me if it has better performance in comfort/grip.
Based on my initial research, the best 3 choices seem to be:
Dunlop E4
Avon Cobra
Michelin Commander III Touring
God bless,

For a bike tire, a Dunlop Elite 4 is hard to beat.

I have been using Avon tires for many years with good results. I have never used a Dunlop Elite tire but have heard good things about them. I think either of those would be a good choice.

Nuther vote for the Dunlop....

I wanted the E4's but they were out of stock everywhere last year. I went with the Cobra Chrome's and have no regrets. About 15,000km on the set and the front is probably at about 25% wear, the rear about 50%. Performance has been great, wet or dry, loaded or empty. A bit squirrely on gravel, but that's more of a Goldwing issue.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I finally went with a set of Avalon Cobra Chromes from J&P Cycles... not only the cheapest place to get them but also the best selection tool.
You're right, they made a heck of a difference in the ride, especially the grip of the road. I feel a lot more confident going into turns now or even going over uneven terrain.

Re: Best New Tires for a 99 Aspencade???
I have a one year old Dunlop E4 on my rear and need a new front tire to replace E3. E4s are back ordered and my mechanic can’t get one.
What would you recommend that is compatible? I already nixed Metzlers that he recommended based on delaminating issues I’ve read about here. He said he can get Avon or Bridgestone.
One better than the other? I usually ride 2 up on back roads and rarely get a chance to put more than 3000 miles per season. Keep in mind I’m not looking to swap out the almost brand new rear. Thanks.

I've been using Avon tires for many years on the last few motorcycles I have owned. I just put an Avon Cobra on the front of my current GL1500. I have been getting 14-16 k miles on them and they seem to have good road adhesion and run quiet. I just got mine from J&P Cycles last week.

I have put more than 200 K miles on Avons. Never let me down. Been through torrential rain, heat, and cold. That is why I don't mess with the rest.

I too have been using Avons almost exclusively for many years. They're great tires, hold and handle well, and last a long time.
