Trunk delete GL-1500 ?

Post by AGENT6833 »

I have a question for all you GL-1500 gurus. Can the trunk be remove from the bike
and replace with some kind of cover or plate rack to give it bagger look. Is there any think or Ideas? This could be a good Idea for someone enterprising good with there hands.

How about a smaller box like the German version?

I've removed mine = Never run with a passenger.
I had to install directional lights in the bags. Easy to do, just a small amount of wiring needed.
The seat ends up looking a bit strange = solved it by cutting off the "wings" and getting it recovered.
I'm building what I call a "Sun Deck", where the trunk was. When wanted or needed, I'll run a tail pack on it.
All-in-all, it makes the bike look a lot less top heavy/clunky, and the whole bike feels better without all that weight way aft and way high.

By-the-way, the "sun Deck" is 3/4" Birch plywood, trimmed with 1/2" Mahogany and varnished. It has four 3/4" stainless steel bolt eyes to secure things to and secure the deck to the steel tail section.
