New seat and/or cover for 99 Aspencade

Post by zeoran »

I'm looking for a replacement seat or at least really good cover for my 99 Aspencade. It currently has the stock seat with backrest and I have armrests for the passenger.
I saw one that was perfect, a black wool/leather combination by Hartcortseat but they're not in business anymore. I've seen the Corbin's but that's not what I'm looking for. I'm a really big guy (330lbs) with a bony rear end, so something that's especially padded on the driver seat is perfect.

Suggestions/thoughts?

God bless,

~Mark

Did you like the stock seat, or do you want something different?

The stock seat is ok. But I'd prefer something a bit more comfortable with a more form fitting backrest.

That Hartcoseat that was black wool/leather looked great. It had a bit wider seat with much more cushioning and larger/expanded backrest.

Something like that would be great. I don't even know where to shop for things like this though. All I can find is replacement vinyl covers/seats.

I've seen some of their work and it looks good.
I've heard others speak well of their product.
I've only bought a custom made rain cover for my seat and it works well for me.

I lot of folks like the Saddlemen Roadsofa.
There are a lot of custom seat makers. Google is your friend. Also search here and on GoldWingFacts for opinions.
As mentioned Diamond gets rave reviews.
Ultimate seats is another one of them. You give them your height and weight and they will build to suit.

A lot of people say it's the best seat they ever had and worth every penny. (lotsa pennies, required)

Some local upholstery shops can do custom bike seats, but many don't really know bikes, so be careful.
Depending on age and mileage, even a new OEM seat might be a big step up in comfort.

These folks do a lot of modifying on motorcycle seats to improve rider comfort. I had some work done on my 1994 Goldwing seat a few years ago and was well pleased with the results. If you call them and tell them what you need, they can schedule a date for your work to be done. You send them your seat, and on the scheduled day, they will do the work and get it shipped out to you the same day if possible. They do a lot of work for the Harley guys but can work on any seat.
