I did my timing belts!

Post by FluffyDog6 »

I did my timing belts yesterday with the help of my wife.

It took about 5 hours, following the guide written here by WingAdmin. It probably could have been faster, but I spent at least half an hour hunting down tools my kids misplaced.

Started right up, and runs great.

Hardest part was getting the wire to the oil sending unit reattached being left-handed lying on my back on the ground. I just could not get the little screw started, and eventually had to have the wife do it.

I would suggest anyone that is hesitant to try it, just print out the instructions to a 3-ring binder, and go page by page like I did.

Being as a local shop quoted me $1200-1500 for this "2 day job" and I have about $150 in tools, new plugs, coolant and belts total into it, I'm chuffed.

NOT having any parts left over at the end was another point of pride. :D
