Gap In Dash

I have a question. I have a 1996 GL1500SE. I just replaced my front speakers. After installing the dash I noticed there is a gap between the dash and all around the glass where the gauges are. Is this normal or did I do something wrong? Other than the gap everything looks like it went together correctly.

Mine has a slight gap all around. About 5mm or so.

Thank you That is about what mine is also. I was wondering if I put it together wrong but sounds like I did it right for a change. LOL
