Reverse and the Neutral light

Hey all - first time post to the Goldwing Docs...

I have a 1992 GL1500 SE with reverse

My reverse works fine but every time I use it, I cannot get the Neutral light to come back on unless I jiggle and wiggle the reverse handle.
Without the reverse light coming on, the bike won't start and I'm afraid of getting stranded somewhere.

I just bought the bike in February and have only put 500 kms on since I got it ( bike has 157,000 kms on it )

I don't think the reverse got much use from the previous owner(s) so I'm wondering if there is something that may be stuck...

Any suggestions ?

Do the adjustment procedure in the service manual. If all that is right, sounds like time for a new switch.
