1994 GL1500 Floor Boards

Post by Silverado2323 »

Hey friends. Wondering if anyone has run into this and what the fix may be. The right rear floorboard won't stay in the down position. I know there is cabling under the seat but I'm not sure where exactly the problem lies. I'm not seeing any broken cables anywhere. The situation now is that if I want to take the side cover off or change out the battery, I have to hold down the board with one hand along with a passenger having to tolerate a raised board. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like a stuck cable or linkage. I take it the other side works fine? First step would be to clean and lube, and inspect. If the cable is rusted up, unfortunately it is no longer available new, so a good used may be your best option.

Thanks Rambozo. I'll do the lube thing first. If that doesn't work I'll check out our local motorcycle wreckers for a used one. Thanks for the ebay link as well.
