No brake lights in Trunk

Post by Clarencechapman »

Discovered that the brake lights in my trunk are not working. I tested the circuit in the bulb wires looking for power in the wire. I found none.
The saddlebag lights are working fine. In studying the schematic, it appears that the wires for the trunk brakes and the wires for the saddlebags come out of the same
relay.
I am wondering if the relay could be the problem and just replacing it could correct my issue. Thought I would ask before diving in any farther.

Thanks

If the relay was bad you would lose them all. I would start checking at all the connectors. "C" numbers in the diagram.

BINGO!!!1
Yep that was it good old number C75. For some reason the brake wire was not making contact inside the plug.
Doesnt help when wires come to the back and when you add the accessories light package the wires change colors only to go back to the original
colors after the jumper. And to top it off the previous owner installed a Back Off unit and did some interesting wiring for that too.

Thanks for the suggestion
