Turn signals stopped working

Post by Ironboy »

I have a 1991 GL1500 SE anniversary edition with 244,000km. It had been in storage for 22years. I have finished restoring it and it runs like a new bike. For the first month I rode the bike the turn signals worked, however...after that the turn signal switch got very loose and then broke ( it just flopped back and forth). The turn signals then stopped working. I have replaced the whole left side switch gear so I have a new turn signal switch, but still the turn signals don't work. Next I have ordered new cornering light Relays and new Turn signal and Hazzard Relays. If that doesn't fix the problem, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do next??
Thanks in advance for your help.

Pull out the wiring diagram and start tracing. Did you change to LEDs?
If the switch falling apart shorted something my bet would be the self cancel module inside the steering stem.

I have not put any LED's on the bike.
The self cancel module inside the steering stem looked ok when I changed out my Steering bearings, but it could be bad?
If putting in new relays doesn't work I will try the self cancel module.
Thanks
