Locked up brakes, crane strap location?

Post by Dodson124 »

The motorcycle i recently bought has locked up brakes. I have a utility truck with a 2000lb crane, where can i strap the goldwing to pick it up safely to put it in the back of my utility truck?

Without spreaders and a bunch of oddball rigging, there are not too many places where the plastics wouldn't be damaged, if not removed first. You could winch it up a ramp from the front wheel, but that wouldn't help you get it back off. I made some lifting beams to hoist mine from underneath.

Take the seat off and the inner steering covers. Strap on both sides of the frame, right behind the crosspiece in front of the trunk, as well as around the steering head. You can safely lift the bike that way.

Seems far simpler to open each caliper bleed port and pry the pads away from the rotors, but you do you.
When all else fails, RTFM!
