Reverse Handle Interruption
Need some help please: First I would like to thank all member for their input on my past questions. I believe this is by far the best site to get help without criticism. This morning I jumped on my 1996 Goldwing GL1500SE to run a couple errands. Started and ran perfect. After about 20 miles I got to a construction zone and had to wait so I shut it down. Time to go again it started up and ran perfect. About another 20 miles I got to my destination put it in neutral set the kickstand down and turned it off. About 20 minutes later I am ready to leave, I put the key in the ignition, stored the kickstand, turned the key to the run position, and tried starting but nothing happened. Everything worked except the neutral light, so I made sure the kickstand was up and even rolled the bike to ensure it was in neutral. Still no start. Now I am thinking a stuck neutral switch, so I started turning the key on and off hoping to jar it loose. I finally noticed the reverse light was coming on and off (my reverse light is very dim during daylight hours). Now I never once touched my reverse handle since I parked it yesterday. I reached down and lightly tapped the reverse handle and my neutral light came on and I am on my way. No, my reverse lever was not engaged when this happened. I have not been able to recreate this problem. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Do I have a major problem about to happen or did my bike just have a brain fart? I will also add that I do use my reverse when I park it because I have an incline with a dip that I cannot push the bike over. Maybe Admin Scott could cover this on one of his Q and A videos. Thanks for any input.

Re: Reverse Handle Interruption
Pretty classic symptom of a failing reverse switch. It's not too tough to replace, and they are readily available:
