Hi All
Would anyone have pointers why the bike just dies, starter / jump will not work until I turn the Bike off and back on still wont work till its in Neutral gear. Once in this mode the Bike will fire up with no issues..
Thanks

Sounds like more than one problem. If BAS is going bad it will kill the engine and require the key to be cycled to reset. If the bike needs to be in neutral, the clutch switch is probably bad or out of adjustment (worn bushing).
There is a recall on the BAS, if that wasn't done, do it.

Re: Bike Dies Randomly
+1 on Rambozo's suggestion. Sounds like what my 92 GL1500 Interstate was doing a while back. Never found what the problem was because it just stopped doing that. Sometimes it would go for days without shutting off and then sometimes it would do it multiple times in one day. It always would start right back up. Someone suggested the kill switch could be the quitting problem. You may check it and clean it. If for whatever reason, the clutch switch is not operating properly, you may need to replace the clutch lever bushing, or the micro switch under it. Then you could start it back up with the clutch released, even in gear, part of what my problem was. I replaced the switch and it still would no activate, even with a new clutch lever, so, I shimmed up the edge of the lever till it operated the switch. Then it would start with the clutch pulled in. Previously I had the bank angle sensor was defective and I had it replaced under recall for free. Take your VIN to your local dealer and have them check it out. If the recall has not been taken care of, they will order one and replace it for free. This is a safety issue so if the bike is still on the road then it is still an active recall. Hope yours heals like mine did. At any rate post the answer to the problem when you find it.

Re: Bike Dies Randomly
Thanks for the Messages, I have contacted the Dealer waiting on them to check if the recall was done on the bike, I have cleaned the kill switch it died the other day after I jumped the bike (well hit a like rump in the road) when it jumped the biked Die Again. strange as the ST 1100 that I have which as the BAS in it as well does not die like this one. So I will wait till I see if the BAS needs replacing otherwise I will change it anyways

By "jumping," do you mean jump start or going over bumps?
Take a look at the kickstand and its switch as well. A weak kickstand spring and/or worn pivot may be allowing some amount of movement over bumps and that could be causing the bike to shut down and not restart until it's placed in neutral.

One other possibility, how many keys do you have on your key ring? If there is a lot of weight and the switch is worn it could cause the engine to die after going over bumps.
Try to learn from the mistakes of others..... you won't live long enough to make them all yourself!

Jump, - bumps in the Road that I hit that made me leave the seat was interesting as they where not there the day before.
I will check the Switch on the Kick Stand, I only have a Honda Keyring on the Key.

easiest way to check is with a zip tie. tie the side and center stands, go for ride.
