separating carbs from top bracket and a bushing fell out

Post by Rigid »

I took the carbs apart and cleaned, I had the right carb off the top bracket and the accelerator pump unattached. the tube from the pump to the top bracket was still in the top bracket. What looks like a bushing fell out. There are not many places it could have come from, the carbs were not dissembled, and my best guess was that it was under the tube that goes from the accelerator to the top bracket, I did look like I could tell that was where the o-ring was sitting looking at the bottom housing. I put it back together it now leaks at the bottom of that tube, I did not change the o-rings on the tube, I did not have any. The bushing is approx. 3/16 tall and 1/4 od across, I have attached pictures, I think!

I just looked at your profile, it says you have a 1985 Interstate, this is the 1500 forum. If you are asking about a 1985, you should ask in the 1200 forum, or if you bought a 1500 update your profile info.
Just go to a honda mc website and check their parts fiche.

That tube with the o-rings on it is sold complete with the o-rings. I don't see the o-rings listed separately; it looks like they come with the tube. That part is about $38.00 at Partzilla plus the shipping. It is possible you could find something that would work at a parts supply place or maybe a hardware store. As for that small bushing, I don't know where that goes. I don't remember seeing a part like that when I worked on my carbs a while back. That tube with the o-ring close to the end goes into the accelerator pump. The end with the o-ring about 1/2 inch from the end goes into the top plate.
Edit: I forgot to send a link to where to find that tube. It is item #6 in this fiche.

There are 2 parts that look like the one you are trying to locate, in this diagram there is one under the line by the #15, and one under the screw that is #19

II have looked at these they don't have a number, but I believe they are on top of the carbs to align the top plate, I have all 4 of these still in the carbs, and they are larger.

I have never had the carbs off of my bike but I did a search on youtube for carb rebuild/disassembly and there are some videos on there, I never watched any of them, some of them are quite lengthy.
Might not hurt to watch some of them if you haven't done so already. That is about all I can suggest.
Hopefully somebody that has rebuilt a set will chime in soon.
