Does Mute normally interfere with changing stations

I am trying to decide if the problem is in the radio unit or in the switch.
Has anyone had muting problems fixed by having the radio repaired?
I will be speaking with Sierra Elec. tomorrow to see what they think.
I will also have the Aux switch put in.
