Insta -Trike Specs and Manual

I hope some one has either the .pdf and images and manual for the Tow-pac Insta-Trike kit for GL1500.

I am disabled veteran pensioner in Australia and purchased a kit second hand from a 1996 GL 1500 including trailer, he removed the kit to fix a bracket then his wife totaled the bike as she was used to steering of trike.

The problems I have are as follows:
The two u-bolts brackets that secure the rear of the bike are missing, I also think that there is a substantial steel plate that I believe sits vertical behind rear wheel.

I contacted Towpac to get a manual and assistance, they informed me it is a GL1800 hitch that has been modified to fit the GL1500.

Towpac told me that as it is missing one or more brackets, they can sell me a bracket kit for GL1800 and only then will they give me instructions or diagrams but only for GL1800 US $ 470 + 900+ for shipping to Au

I asked for them to quote price on complete new hitch for GL1500 with manual US $ 950 + more than first but not mentioned+ shipping. I asked if they could ship by sea to make it cheaper, was informed they cant do anything about freight costs.

I have already spent a lot of money for kit and trailer, I would have been happy to buy from Towpac but I don't think paying twice or more the cost of the item in freight is justified. I am prepared to have brackets fabricated over here if it will save me some money. I just want to be safe and comply with the laws.

I hope somebody can help me. I just want to be able to keep riding as it is getting harder and harder to maneuver weight of bike, especially two up. The GL1500 is the only bike I can ride due to back and neck injuries, and it has to have reverse. I have tried GL1800,spyders, BMW etc.

Since it was modified already, the factory info may not be of much use. I would find a local fabrication shop to figure out what you need to make this work. It should be a pretty straight forward job.

The only modification I can see is that they added an extra u-bolt on each side at the front so it attaches it attaches to both crash bars on either side instead of just the rear (making it actually a stronger attachment).

If you refer to my original post and look at first photos, you will see that the only mod is extra ubolt brocket added to each crash bar.
If you look at second set of photos from another build, you can see the back ubolt brackets I am missing and back bracket.

Surely someone has instructions that mention tuning of suspension etc.

That the company won't supply you with any documentation speaks volumes, to me. Not a place I would want to deal with. You are probably better off asking on some of the trike groups. The thing is that people usually go to trikes when they get tool old to ride bikes, so their DIY days are usually long past as well. There are exceptions but it might take you some time to find them.

Tow-Pac finally sent me a user manual for GL1800 showing how to tune and maintain Insta-trike. The manual didn't contain any installation or diagrams of brackets as they are liable if someone makes there own brackets etc at least in USA.

However I am happy with end result, as I purchased a standard tow bar which funnily enough, has very similar mounts and brackets. So I can make it work, for either design.
