Clutch Problem

Post by gitrdone247 »

I own a 1993 GL1500 SE. This morning early I messed up. I started it let it warm up pushed it out of the garage and for some reason I stepped up and hit the gear shifter without pulling the clutch. Now I have no clutch. I pull the clutch and there is nothing there. I start it and pull the clutch put it in first and it jumps . I can get it to shift back to neutral but I have torn something up. I was looking for advise on what exactually to start looking at. I am new to motorcycles (I have only had this one for just over a year) but in OK where I live I seem to not be able to find people who are willing to work on this old of a Goldwing.

Doubtful you caused this. Moving the shifter won't damage the clutch. What you probably have is a hydraulic system failure. Flush out any old fluid and refill and bleed. Also inspect the master and slave cylinders. You might not like what you find and it will be time to rebuild those, at least the slave, they can get pretty cruddy.

1997 Wing motor trike, 88000 miles. Started slipping out of the blue, would not engage at all. I am 35 miles from home. Had master and slave cylinders rebuilt. Like new. Slave cylinder looked like it was from 1897. Hopefully your issue is as simple. Be blessed

I took the slave cylinder out it was definitely leaking the reservoir was empty. I rebuilt the slave cylinder and filled it back up and it works great. Thank you to the folks on this site for the advice.
