What is the small part on the backside of the fuel pump assembly?

My wild guess is low fuel thermistor.

Is this what you are asking about? That is not the original thermister for the low fuel light but is a replacement someone made.

Yes it is. Thank you if mine is bad can I bypass it? Or can I bypass the relay on top of the pump?

The thermistor has nothing to do with the operation of the pump, it is used only to illuminate the "low fuel" light.

There is also no relay on the top of the pump. If you're talking about the little black box, it is a condenser to prevent the electric fuel pump from inducing noise into the audio system.

What is the problem that you're trying to fix?

Just replacing the fuel pump and the wire popped off. So thank you for your help if I need assistance again I will post.
