Grinding noise at low speeds when I pull the clutch

Post by sweetleon »

Lately when I ride my 1989 GL1500 with 125k miles on the clock, I sometimes hear a grinding noise when I pull in the clutch at low speeds. (Maybe it happens at higher speeds but I just can't hear it?)

I don't experience any other problems: no slipping, all gears work fine.

Should I worry? :?:

Thanks I'm advance!

Worry about a grinding noise? I think YES is the appropriate reply.

Any thoughts on what it might be or how best to diagnose it? I'd think it's the clutch or gears ⚙️ but I don't have any other symptoms.

Happens with lever pulled in meaning cluch is doing its clutch thing and no rotation passing to transmission. Probably clutch plates and rivets are not in a happy place. Check with a local mechanic but I think a clutch replacement is in your future.
