I have a 2000 goldwing trike with 62000 miles for about 3 months. Have a clutch problem. When cold works perfect. When hot i get chatter pulling away. Hotter it gets the worse it gets. Dosen't slip while running at speed. Let it sit a half hour works fine until it gets back up on heat. 1st. replaced oil used honda oil. 2nd. replaced slave cylinder. No change. Only thing left is replace clutch.
Would appriciate any idea before replacing clutch.

It might be time for a hail mary pass here. I have read here that sea foam can work wonders in places that you don't think it will if it is oil lubed so.... Try putting a can of the sea foam in the engine and drive it a bit and make sure to use the clutch often so the cleaner can get in between the clutch plates and then change the oil again and make sure that the oil that you use is NOT rated as "energy conserving" on the round API label. Since you don't have straight oil in the crankcase go gentle on the acceleration and speed. I have wondered if clutch chatter cases aren't caused by a previous oil change with energy conserving oil that is still affecting clutch engagement.
Oh, and while I am thinking about the problem, I've also read that the little fluid return port in the bottom of the clutch master cyl can get clogged up and won't let the fluid return properly so it might be worth a check of that first to see if there is a piece of trash or a buildup of gunk in the bottom of the fluid reservoir.
Hope you find a solution that doesn't involve r&r of the engine, there should not be worn out clutches at your mileage.

Was changed at honda dealer. Whatever oil they reccomend.

I read this post earlier and just remembered, I've had some chatter
and I had used some Delvac Deisel Oil.. I now have about 2-3 or 4 Honda Oil Changes since
I think I used the synth blend 1-2 times since used the regular non-synth Honda oil
she definately seems to shift smoother on the synth stuff ..
no chatter now, and I drive it like a tractor sometimes, shifting at very low rpms
I need to run some Mystery Oil in mine again, I think I have a lifter sticking.

I have no problem shifting. Only chatter when hot and pulling away from a complete stop. Once moving everything seems fine. No problem shifting up or down. Chatter seems slighty better if i shift to neutrol and release clutch at red lights.

I do have some slip though, but she does have 112k .. it's only when full throttle though

Long time getting back. Back to working again. Replaced clutch, found hot spots on plates. Put about 1000 miles on and problem solved.
