1995 gl1500se trike

Post by Mr.Goob »

I brought this 1995 trike about a month ago, whomever put it together was definitely a bit challenged, anyway,it sat ,6 yrs ,drained all the fuel, had carbs rebuilt, installed them, fired right up,on the back he installed some cheap red lights along the bottom and only half of them even worked, i decided to go show my friend that pens this bar my new mc, looked back there was no license plate light, turned it off, and for a temporary fix, i just snipped the lights in the rear that worked, and ran that wire to the license plate light,i start it back up,and i have headlight, turn signal, brake lights, but not a one of the clearance lights would work, replaced fuses, still Nöthling, but now i have turn signals, brake lights, still no clearance lights, and now, no headlight , no clearance lights, and still won't even make a noise when u push the starter button, oh, and it did have dash lights, this whole time too, and i have some most everything that clymers, says to do.And i do apologize for the lengthy question, i figured i should tell everything that has happened, and what i have some so far........Any ideas???.....Thanx. Would need a lot more info on what worked originally and what didn't along with what you did. I suspect when you hooked up the plate light, you are backfeeding other circuits. My guess is the wiring has probably been so molested that it would be easier to start from scratch and rewire all the trike stuff. Do you have the original Honda wiring diagram and a multimeter?

I had to do that when I got my GL1500. There was so much aftermarket wiring, most of it VERY poor quality (including a bundle of wires that ran from the fairing to the trunk, but was not connected to anything at either end) that I just decided to rip everything out and start over.
