Progressive Springs Orientation

Post by mcphatty »

Is there a way to verify which orientation my Progressive fork springs are installed, without dismantling the fork? Previous owner of the bike was a bit larger than me, and used heavy weight oil with the Progressive springs to firm up the ride. I'd like to change out the oil for a 50/50 mix of 10w and 5w fork oil, but without knowing which orientation the springs are installed I am not sure how much oil I will need to add. Unfortunately the previous owner doesn't remember which way they were installed.

You might be able to tell with a borescope.
You can measure how much oil you get out of it, too.
