"Making" an Aspencade into a SE

So I am going to look at a '96 Aspencade tomorrow to replace my messed up '94 SE.

Is there any obstacle that would keep me from taking the parts from my SE and putting them on the Aspencade?

My '94 is white, and '96 is Green.
While the '96 has the main things I want (cruise, onboard air adjustment, reverse), but I don't like the color, and the paint condition is not the greatest.
I figured I could just move over all the plastics from my '94 to the '96 and be good.
Biggest things are the foot warmer/controls, cornering lights, and trunk spoiler.
I am not moving the CB and headset controls.
Not sure if I am moving the radio, the Aspencade radio looks basically the same as mine, plus I don't use it anyway.
Not sure if I will move rear speakers, they are part of the trunk area, but not sure how hard it would be to wire them.
May or may not move the adjustable rear foot rest, depends on how much of a pain it is to do (I never move them anyway).

Was really wanting a '97+ SE so I don't have to worry about the 4th gear shift fork again, but this '96 is cheap, close, has less than 20,000 miles, and supposedly was just worked on to get running again.
Even if not running well, I have a working bike (except for the 4th gear shift fork) that I could pull most all the mechanical parts from if needed.

I just transitioned a 95 Aspencade to a 2000 SE. I wanted to keep the same Tupperware as I liked the color better. I hit a snag when I went to swap the fairing. The Amphenol plugs in the wiring harnesses were different, most likely because of the CB. I did not want to rewire to make it work, so I decided I would like the 2000 color after all.

I wonder if that was a year difference thing or a CB thing?

I can live without the CB (never used it in the almost 3 years I have had it), and I am going from a bike with it to one without it, so having a pigtail laying around unused on the fairing will not bug me.

Compare the wiring harness plugs under the right and left cubbies and you will see they are different between A and SE, at least they were in my experience.

Think you'll find MOST of the SE lighting/accessory connections are built into the Aspy harness.... You might have to look for unused connectors tucked somewhere out of the way.
A local inventor has figured a way to turn a sausage grinder backward to manufacture pigs. :lol:

That is kind of what I was thinking, but just was not sure.
Still waiting to hear back from the guy to go take a look at it.

Since you plan to remove all "collectability" and have a good riding bike, the wiring harness shouldn't be much of an issue. Just check schematics for both years and figure out what you need to modify.

This might be a good time to go to aftermarket electronics anyhow.
