Given a 1997 GL1500 SE Canadian Limited Edition, that has fuel injection on both sides of the fairing??
Hi everyone, So everything I've read and all the videos I've seen basically state that there is no 1997 fuel injection GL1500. I'm not sure if the previous owner thought it was a good idea to put fuel injection on it?? it does seem to look original and I'm not sure what a fuel injection glodwing engine looks like.
As far as I can tell, it looks like a carburetor...Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will try to load pictures

That is definitely two carburetors just like all other 1500s

Thank you for your quick reply! That's what I thought, but I do not understand why the previous owner would put two "Fuel injection" decals on a bike that has a carburetor

It's called UP BADGING, people do it on cars a lot, makes others think they have a more expensive model than they have. For instance, Nissan has several models of each vehicle. S, SV, SX etc., so if you have the base model, you can put the SX emblem on it to make it look like a more expensive model. I imagine the PO of your bike did it just to make people ask about it. Some with the 1500 Aspencade put the SE emblem on their bikes.

I have heard of people putting ABS badges on 1800's without ABS.
I for one tend to de-badge.

Understood and thank you. So those two badges will be getting WD-40 asap and removed off the bike.

No fuel injection on GWs after the '86 SE-i FI model. Having mentioned this, Wingadmin posted an article about the 1500 engine design and it emulates an FI engine in quite a few ways. There are IIBC 5 different circuits, each doing a specific function that emulates an FI engine. Honda was very innovative with the GW.

I didn't see anything different from my carburetors. But then again, you didn't show anything but the top of the air box and not the carbs. You would have to pull all that out and expose the carbs to see everything.onedayright wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 6:02 pm Hi everyone, So everything I've read and all the videos I've seen basically state that there is no 1997 fuel injection GL1500. Agreed. Definitely remove the air box to confirm if you have carbs or if the previous owner did a conversion to injection.Tim 1956 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 4:36 amI didn't see anything different from my carburetors. There were a few posts in years past of members trying to install fuel injection on their 1500s. Most of the posts fell off without further updates..... Hopefully this won't be another unfinished thread.....

Pull your airbox and confirm what you have, be it carbs with added badging or actual one off fuel injection by owner.onedayright wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 1:39 pm Understood and thank you. So those two badges will be getting WD-40 asap and removed off the bike.
There have been a few posts over the years on here and on the old Steve Saunders gw facts forum of owners starting to convert to fuel injection but most of those threads were left hanging without updates of completion or what happened.
(Don't you be a thread hanger!!!)

Here is my Honda F6C Valkyrie GL1500C. EFI is made from the GL1800 intake manifold and fuel injection parts. I've driven it about 15,000 km now. It has been fun working on. ![Image]()

False badging makes for peaked curiosity and interesting conversation,as this thread attests to.

www.hestec.fi. For the ECU I used the Hestec product. It is able to utilize bikes and throttle body's own sensors.

Those EFI badges are from a late 80's early 90's Cadillac DeVille!

If I remember correctly, I've been there. The American beer did not impress. I lived in California in the 70s. There they said that my name sounds like Olynpia beer. My real name is Olli. Oke is my nickname from high school.
