Front master cylinder substitute
I rebuilt the front master cylinder on my 98 goldwing, but it still doesn't work properly after bleeding. It holds a good pedal for a few stops and then it goes to the bars.
My question is, is there a good aftermarket replacement?

Probably your biggest issue will be getting one that will allow both the cruise & brake light switches to mount on them.
I just got a descent looking item off Ebay.
I also went with an 1800 unit because it has the adjustable lever.

Did you buy a new, or used one? And does it work with the 1500's cruise? I actually forgot about the cruise.

It was not new. I picked one that look like it might be in good shape, disassemble and cleaned it. I was prepared to get a rebuild kit for it, but decided that it didn't need one. It wouldn't be a mistake to order a kit, if you go this route. The 1800 have both silver and black levers.
Yes, it also has switches for the brake light and cruise shut down.

Re: Front master cylinder substitute
So the 1800 setup fits a 1500?
What about the clutch, is that the same as well?

Yes, the clutch is interchangeable also. I wanted adjustable levers on both, so i went with the 1800s and they work fine.

Wish I knew that when I had my 1500, I like the 1800 levers so much better.

Re: Front master cylinder substitute
I failed to mention that the ones I used were from the first series of 1800s. Looking at the later series, I don't see much/any differences. You also have to be cautious of the aftermarket ones. The only ones I'd use are OEM ones.
