Cylinder head differences if any?

Post by NcSe »

I’m having a problem chasing down a tick in my right head on my 96 se. In the process I pulled the threads out of where the lash adjuster cap screws into. I fixed the with a heli-coil. Bike still runs strong but still have the taping. I have a 2000 sw parts bike with running engine. My question, can I swap the head off the 2000 onto my 1996? Any information is appropriate.

Pretty sure Heads from '90 to 2000 are same. '88 & '89 heads likely to have some differences. I'm certain they're same '96 to 2000, that's when the engine got the Valkyrie Tranny mods, and even at that rate I don't think there were any changes in the heads at that time.

97-2000 interchange.
There are changes from 96. Not sure if any are dealbreakers.

If there is a decent Wing tech at the Honda dealer you might try asking there, they may have seen enough to have an idea.
