aftermarket fader control switch

Post by drmorick »

Is there anyone who knows about aftermarket fader control switch? I have a 95 aspencade which the control switch does not work properly. Can I remove the wires from the switch and tape them together and would the radio still work along with the cassette player. I don't care if just the front speakers work.

Thanks in advance

Most aftermarket units are plug and play. So, you can unplug the fader and plug the stock wiring back together and you will have the front speakers.

Thanks for the advice. But I really don't want to take the left side apart. I had a 94 aspencade bought used until I crashed it 4 years ago and the previous owner disconnect the wires from the switch and the radio still worked. The reason I know this because I took the switch off the bike. I just don't know the wires from
the switch was taped together.

Thanks

You could bypass the fader to just the front speakers. Since aftermarket units could be any color wires, you will have to note their locations, and trace out which is front and rear. For the left and right, the signal will come in to the wiper or center terminal of the potentiometer and the speakers will come off each end, front off one end and rear off the other.
If you don't want it to be noisy with static, you should solder and heatshrink the connections.
