Post by bbrackett »

This curly tube goes to the carb box
but from where ?
and what would cause it to have milky substance?

thanks for your thoughts
Engine was running on the left side again
no fuel from accelerator pump
and i need to swap out my ign coils n wires
and it seems i have a couple of bad vac hoses
shes been fine all fall with the <70f temps

That's emulsion. It's what you get when oil and water mix together.

Most likely it's from your crankcase blow-by. Combustion of the gasoline produces several gases, including CO2, CO and H2O - water. Some of this combustion escapes past the piston into the crankcase. If the engine is cold, the water condenses into the oil. If you run the bike good and hot, the water will boil off and escape through the crankcase breather into the air box. It escapes as steam mixed with fine oil particles, and most of it gets sucked into the intake and re-burned. Some of it however condenses in the air box, especially on cold days or during cold starts, hence the emulsion. Normally this will then drain out into the crankcase vent storage hoses, which you need to drain regularly.

Thanks Steve / Admin :-)
I'm thinking I haven't done it regularly enough.. like I haven't done it with each Oil Change ugh :-(
and.. I need to properly check the oil when the engine is "warm", recently shut off.. while the oil is still suspended
and not when it's been sitting overnight on the center or side stand (I never do)
and.. make sure I'm not overfilling, I think all those points that may have caused this :-(

I pulled the carbs, because I think my right side carb low rpm tubes are blocked and not because of this
and.. it's only since the temps hit 70F here in Sedalia MO.. that I had this issue, she's been fine all winter :-)
engine's fine over 3k rpms, under that much and she's running on the left bank adding a bit of choke helps a little, tells me there's a problem.

I checked Honda Parts, traced the hose and found there's a Breather "Storage" Tanks
So.. I plan to remove that and hopefully the hose at the Crank Case and clean it properly

Yes, I need to check and drain those hoses more considering she's essentially my daily.
put 13k on last year, 5k on this year. :-), and I'm about 500-1k late for oil change, I run HP4 she seems to like it vs reg Honda
