First time skirt raiser

Post by Wingdad75 »

Well it’s time. And boy it was way easier after looking through lots of info on here. Thanks! The rear Dunlop has almost 20k on her and rear brakes we’re getting super thin. I’m also going to be lubing the final drive shaft while I’m in there. Mine had plenty of grease! But I suppose it’s good to clean and replace. What do ya all use for a good Moly? Tire should be here Friday so fingers crossed I don’t have too much trouble getting it back together. Cheers! 🍻

FWIW, I use marine grease for lubing. That stuff is stickier than snot on your finger. Resistant to water intrusion too.

You want to use Moly Paste on all the splines.
Honda 77 or Loctite Moly Paste(has 85 rating)

I use a nuclear grade moly. Working in nuke plants-and glowing in the dark, occasionally has it's advantages!

SO!!! LOL, you raised the bags. been there, done it & hope to never have to again. You'll find out, but hoping yours goes back easier than mine.
I was LOL'ing at myself for remembering the INTENSE frustration trying to jab the tube ends in their proper place. ONCE I missed the crash bar, found that out a week later after bumping it, it wiggled.
