Anyone heard of this issue before? Gas Cap?

Post by No1uno »

I have been having some issues with the idle surging, and I was ready to tear into the bike. Today I went out and put in new gas, and started the bike up, after it warmed up it started working better but still surging. I turned off the GL and then I heard this hissing sound, followed it down to the gas cap!!! I turned it open and then started the bike again, then after a few moments the GL started to run poorly again. Damn, now what.... I opened up the gas cap and the GL started to smooth out.... So this is what I figured.

1) I need to FIX the gas cap since it is clogged (I guess)
2) still replace the vacuum lines (For good measure)
3) replace the hose from the gas cap, since it is split further down the line to where it ends up
4) Always look for what the bike is telling you.

So, what is a good way to fix gas caps? or is there an aftermarket gas cap we can buy? or a rebuild kit?
Any help would be appreciated....

Gas cap is common problem, most times soaking it 24 hrs in Seafoam will fix it.
