Stock shifter and brake pedal/parts
Stock shifter and brake pedal/parts
Guys I'm a new GW owner and I'm sure this has probably been discussed to death so please forgive me... can't find a thread on this. I got a 99 and its got the heel/toe shifter and foot platforms on both sides and I DO NOT care for these. I'm a little rusty anyways and these rascals are not making it any easier for me. I've had this a week so I've not exhausted my search for these OEM shifter and brake parts yet but have any of you dealt with this issue. If you are going back to a OEM type shifter and brake pedal set up, are there after market parts that are the equivalent to the original or is it stock or nothing on these? I do my own maintenance on my rolling stock but I'm no mechanic by any means. I just figured it would be unbolt what is on the bike and bolt on the new shifter, pegs and brake pedals but in looking around, I've not found any videos or threads on doing this. I imagine its fairly simple but any advice you guys can give will be gladly received. I haven't even got a service manual yet so I'm pretty early on in my journey to bring my new bike up to running like a sewing machine. Do you guys like the Clymer manual? Thank you in advance for any pointers you can give me and hope you have a good weekend.

Watching ebay for the needed parts is typical. Sometimes you can find someone on a forum that wants to trade, but that is pretty rare.
You can't beat the factory service manual. Again, you can find them cheap on ebay from time to time.

I agree with you on the heal toe shifter, I'm short and reaching past it to the ground is difficult. My Goldwing didn't have the gig foot boards and shifter, so I didn't have that problem. As Rambozo said you can check e-bay and if have the patients check the listings that have a bunch of parts for a flat price, I think I have seen shifters and brake pedals but not sure. I have a set of the stock foot pegs for a 95 Goldwing you can have if you pay shipping.

E-bay is where I got my replacement stock parts when taking my heel toe shifter/floor boards off. I think it was ~$100 total for brake pedal, shifter and foot pegs (and associated mounting parts).
I would take him up on this, the cost of shipping is less than what you would find them on ebay for.Mike D 1990 Goldwing wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 2:30 pm...

Re: Stock shifter and brake pedal/parts
I think someone on here would know for sure if they will fit, I know they would fit because I just found out they came off a 99. The person I got them from has a trike and I guess they came with but she doesn't need them for obvious reason.

If your bike isn't already equipped with a shift shaft support pivot, you should consider adding one while you're at it. Much crisper shifts and takes a lot of unnecessary torque off the long shift arm.
