Installing a rake kit on a 1996 GL1500
Installing a rake kit on a 1996 GL1500
Has anyone authored detailed step by step instructions or made a video about installing a rake kit on a GL1500 trike? I've found a few instruction sheets provided by the different kit manufacturers but they don't mention things like, "how much of the front fairing must be removed?", etc. Honda dealership wants $1500.00 to do the job but my rich uncle didn't name me in his will . I'm not afraid of doing it myself but would really like more information on this DIY project. I really don't want to get in "over my head" so I'm just trying to find out all I can ahead of time.

If it's just replacing the triple tree (which is what most rake kits do), then you don't need to remove any of the fairing. You can see how it's done here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=23661rich22255 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 10:59 am Has anyone authored detailed step by step instructions or made a video about installing a rake kit on a GL1500 trike? For that task, $1500 is obscene. It's maybe a 2-3 hour job for an experienced mechanic.
