99 Alternator Heat
99 Alternator Heat
My alternator had to be rebuilt, charges good but it gets hot within a few minutes on a cold start, I believe the regulator was replaced when I had it rebuilt. Maybe it supposed to be hot, I don't know.

Maybe someone could do a cold start on their GL1500 and see if your alternator gets hot in a few minutes.

Re: 99 Alternator Heat
Sorry, would have done this sooner but it has been rainy here for the past 10 days.
I started my bike and the alternator was hot to touch within 3 min. I could hold my hand on it, but not for long.
It is not a hot day either, about 65° F.

That's very helpful, I didn't want to purchase a new alternator only to find out this is normal. Thank you sir.WingsandThings wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 4:27 pm Sorry, would have done this sooner but it has been rainy here for the past 10 days.
