I have a 1994 GL1500 SE which has served me well for many years. In 2014, I was forced to tear down the engine for a screeching noise that turned out to be a seized bearing. Every bearing had to be replaced due to the metal filings in them. I couldn't risk the chance of not cleaning them thoroughly enough and have a future repeat.
Just recently I'm getting a thumping noise coming out of the left valve cover. The timing of the thumping seems to correspond to with a valve timing as it increases during acceleration. I use 10-40W fully synthetic for where I live. There were no metal fillings in this recent oil change.
Does anyone know what that noise could be? Could one of the hydraulic valves be clogged?
Valve noise ?

Re: Valve noise ?
Just curious; is your alternator loose?
I'm not so sure about an inner child, but I have an inner idiot that surfaces every now and then..

Re: Valve noise ?
I'm fairly sure the issue is not the alternator. I can feel the tapping on the valve cover above the middle cylinder and, as I said; the tapping increases with acceleration. I want to ride but I'm not sure if I should. I have the capability to handle the issue if I knew what I was dealing with. I need help with this guys.
