Just picked up a 98SE
The bike is in really good cosmetic condition besides a melted dash. Is that a common thing? It kinda curled up at the top of the speakers. I figured maybe it was parked with the sun hitting the windshield just right to deform the plastic.
Anyway looking on eBay I find a few but some say they are gray and mine is black but hard to tell if one person's gray is another person's black. Others don't say anything and I can't tell from photos, but I asked a seller and they said it was gray. Just wondering how many colors the dash came in and if black is specific to a model year. I guess mine might be a dark gray but that is from sun fading pretty sure it was black from the factory.
I want to get one before I do the LED dashlights mod and windshield. If anybody has a parts bike with one in good shape let me know.
Thanks!

Re: Replacement Dash
They were available in several colors. Black, grey, red, brown, and maybe others. 98 would be gloss black.
Re: Replacement Dash
Just so this shows up in the search function the correct part number for the 1998 dash is:
64241-MT8-770ZK
I think the part is the same from 1997-2000 but don't take my word for it.
Alt part number:
64241-MT8-770ZL
The part is called a meter panel.
Partzilla had no stock and Revzilla doesn't ship here. I ended up using Mega Zip which looks like a scam but I dug a bit and found that they are some kind of reseller. $300 CND ouch! But it would have been $150 (the shipping will kill you) for a used eBay one that wasn't a color match. Figure I'd rather have an NOS item.

Re: Replacement Dash
Now I can figure out the LED's.
Re: Replacement Dash
BTW I used the NOVUS 2 plastic refurbishing stuff on the windshield quickly yesterday and very impressed with the performance. I can see clearly now but still shows some age. I will do a better job when everything is apart.
