Coolant Airlock

Post by harry37 »

Hi
I've followed Scott's excellent video on YouTube on changing coolant.

Now, when the engine is running with the radiator cap off the coolant overflows.

Does this meani have an airlock?

The engine temp is showing to be working fine, and both radiator pipes and radiators are hot.

Any ideas or guidance would be appreciated

Thanks
Harry

If it gets hot enough, it WILL overflow. That's how it's supposed to work. That overflow normally gets pushed into the coolant reservoir, and when it cools off, it sucks the coolant out of the reservoir and back into the cooling system.

Thank you, I eventually worked that out for myself, I'm not a great at reading instructions but I learn by mistakes very quickly.

There was definitely an air lock but I was rushing it once I slowed down and thought about it, everything fell in to place.

This site is great.

Thanks for your patience.
