Hello.
I am first time owner of a Honda Goldwing GL1500. I previously owned (and still own) a 1998 Honda ST1100 ABS CBS TCS PanEuropean, which I was very pleased with. The Honda GL1500 is a 1989 (USA) model, first registered in 1992. The first impression is good, although there are some things that should be improved, especially in terms of aesthetics. In order to have some security in using it, until the end of the season, I did a minimum overhaul, by replacing the oils in the engine and the final transmission, filters, front and rear brake pads, brake and clutch fluid. These are the days to replace the timing belts, spark plugs and coolant.
I have a dilemma with the coolant. There is a green liquid in the engine. I saw in the documentation that the coolant must not be based on silicates, or what I found to buy (G11 is green or blue), it clearly says on the labels that there are silicates in the composition. That's why I bought G12 coolant, without silicates, but I want to ask if it's safe to put it in the engine, before doing anything stupid.
I still need to find two tires, both on the motorcycle have a form of wear and hum on the road. About the tires..., I would like some recommendations. What I can find here locally, are from Bridgestone, Dunlop and Metzeler. Thank you.

Hello.
So, as I said before, I was done maintainance for new to me GL1500 (that means calipers cleaned, brake pads, brake liquid, engine oil, filter and final gear oil, spark plugs, both belts, coolant changed). Still waiting for air filter...
Problems started since coolant changed. There are coolant leaking in some places, never leaked before changed. Any ideas? It is G12 coolant, without silicates. Previous coolant was something green-brown. I made mistakes somewhere? Thank you.

I don't think it's the fluids fault, probably just age. I have an 89 as well and have leak problems . Orings on the transfer tubes, thermostat housing orings and hose clamps that have loosened off is where I've found problems.

Thank you. Strange, I haven`t seen leak liquid to orings from tube upside pump... Chech tomorow again. I changed the coolant again, with a green one, started and warmed the engine. No leak, wait till tomorow to cold again.

Ideally you want to pressure test the cooling system to the cap relief pressure. Much better to find and fix leaks in your garage, rather than out on the side of the road.
