I couldn't find that topic any more, where was discussion about leaking chrome valve covers, so I start a new topic.
Last winter I installed brand new chrome valve covers on my SE 1999. I put also new gaskets, including new bolt seals. I put the bolts on the specified torque. Despite the new seals and careful installation, the covers leaked oil quite much.
I cut the old bolt seals so that they were flat, and put those on the new bolt seals. So when the sealing on each bolt was thicker, the bolt didn't reach the bottom so early, and it pressed the covers tighter on place.
I don't know if this is a wise thing to do, but my new valve covers don't leak any more. And they look great!
