What exactly melted? It's hard to see through the smoke in the picture.

It's hard to know what happened given the info provided. I'm not sure but it reads as if sometime in the past the dog bone fuse area melted for an unspecified reason. As a result of the melting incident, you or someone else rewired the main fuse. Then you rode the bike and smelled burning at which you snapped the picture. After that the bike wouldn't start. Is that accurate?
If so, why did the dog bone area melt in the first place? Is it safe to assume the main fuse is the dog bone fuse? What did you replace the main fuse with? How much riding did you do after replacing the main fuse before you smelled burning?
