So the PO of this 98SE had a service manual he described as a bible... I thought I would get the factory manual in the leather (vinyl) cover. He had to find it and I rode out to get it today. It turned out to be a Clymer manual for 88-93 GL1500. I had a few other bits to pick up like new saddle bag sidelights (originals were in sad shape) so no big deal.
My question is: Is the 88-93 close enough for most work? Should I get the appropriate manual and if so which one? I was thinking maybe getting the Haynes manual for the correct year and then I would have 2 different perspectives with one being accurate by date.
Am I overthinking this?

Get the Honda Factory service manual. They can be had cheap on ebay all the time. 98 - 2000 are all pretty much the same. The early years, not so much.

Re: Wrong Service Manual?
Clymers is perhaps better than no manual but it not a that ideal. Would maybe suggest see if you can buy factory one from ebay. Something like this maybe only for your year model.
