Key Grommet
I am replacing the key grommet on my 2000 GL1500. Not a clue how to get the old one off and the new one on. Probably simple as hell, just missing something! Ha ha. Thanks in advance. Mark

Re: Key Grommet
Are you talking about the combination switch cover grommet 83161-MAM-A60ZE?
If so, you pop off the whole panel from the bottom then rotate the grommet to line the legs up with the slots, much like a bayonet lightbulb.

Re: Key Grommet
It is the switc cover grommet. Replacing with a chrome version. I was hoping I would not have to remove the panel but hey, that's life. Thank you!

Re: Key Grommet
In theory you don't, but without X-Ray vision it's hard to tell if you have it lined up right. The panel just pops off, so it's a lot easier with it removed. The hole for the grommet is oversized so it can slide around and fit over the switch even if the switch is not perfectly centered in the hole.
