Turn signal cancellation connector... where is it 😅

Post by jeeron »

Hi all,

I`m completely at a loss here and helping my balding head by pulling out hairs myself. Bought my first Wing - GL1500 '90 which is turning out to be a bit more of a lemon than I had hoped for.

"for the life of me I can`t figure out where the brown connector of the turn signal cancellation thingamabob goes πŸ˜…."

After a holiday I had 2 leaking front forks, rebuilt them with new parts. Since I had to remove a fair bit of stuff I took the time to fix the wiring, unknowns and do other maintenance.
Replaced the timing belts and tensioners.
Removed wiring from an old alarm and cleaned up the wiring and used heat shrink instead of the silly tape that was on it... so much stuff that wasn`t even soldered or used or used blue splicers, great way to stuff up a wiring harness πŸ˜’.
Installed a shifter brace which ofcourse also had issiues with clearing the frame.

So everything is back together minus the lower fairing. Bike starts and runs but for the life of me I can`t figure out where the brown connector of the turn signal cancellation thingamabob goes πŸ˜…. I feel like I`m going insane, from memory it was somewhere on the right hand side, but it`s been a while since I took the bike apart with a few holidays in between so my memory is patchy at best. I`m just not seeing any dangly connectors. Youtube isn`t helping me, neither are the DIY's..... I sometimes spot the cable I`m after but never see where it ends up.

Much appreciated,
Jay

I believe the connector is up inside the steering neck near the cancellation unit itself.

Good morning (for me) and thank you for your reply. That is correct, that the side that is attached to the white connector that comes out the bottom. I`m on the hunt for the browns other half at the bike side😬. Onto another day of searching πŸ˜….

Well, as these things always do. After a day of searching and sorting other stuff on the bike in the meantime.... asking a question and a night of sleep, realizing the manual has a "where is this part index". Walk back to bike and guess what I found πŸ˜’. Staring me in the face, mocking me, this entire time πŸ˜….

So it`s behind the Left Hands side fairing where the connectors are sitting that are somewhat hidden behind the airduct with the fairing installed. This for me means that the wiring in the front is back to stock. Hopefully the wires that were spliced into aren`t corroded too badly. I reckon I cut out all the bad stuff and soldered new wire in between but sheesh 😣.
