Slight Water Leak

Post by Craignz »

Hi,
Noticed a few drops of antifreeze under the bike after a ride, on the front of left hand side
Pulled cowling off and can see drops as per the pics.
Radiator hose looks OK as does the temp sensor.
Cannot see any trace of a leak on the bottom of the radiator.
Any ideas?

Thank you

Pressurize the cooling system to the cap relief pressure. That is the best way to find leaks while everything is cold and easy to touch without getting burned. One common location is the hoses that are around the carbs. Nothing inside the timing cover I can think of so look to the top of that where it could drip down into the timing case.

Check the two small hoses that are attached to the front of the water pump. I had one start leaking and had to order the two that go up over the top of the engine. Also check the vent hole in the bottom of the water pump. There is a seal inside that seals the coolant and another seal that seals the oil from the engine.

Thank you Guys for the suggestions.

I decided to reseat the hose to the left hand radiator.
When I checked the hose clamp it didn't feel that tight, I tightened and water seeped out the top of it.
I loosened off twisted the hose to reseat and retightened.

Took her out for a run before I put all the cowls back on.
Got back and had a good look, no leak!

The simple ones are always the best :)

Cheers
