Brake light won't come on.

Post by Cewonz »

What could it be? Brake lights won't come on when I engage the front brakes. They come on when I use the rear brakes. What could I do? Thanks

Listen closely to your front brake lever to see if you hear a click as the micro switch is engaged. Test the power at the switch to see if the switch is actually working. You should have power on one side of the switch and when you pull the brake lever, you should have power on both sides of the switch. Hope this helps.

There are two switches there. One for the brake lights and one to cancel the cruise control. Make sure they are hooked up properly while you are testing.
Has this just started or did you get the bike this way?

Ok. Then for sure make sure the wires are on the right terminals and test the two switches with a meter. One is normally open while the other is normally closed. They are all the same size terminal, so it's easy to mix them up. To make things worse, Honda in its infinite wisdom used white with green stripe on one switch and green with white stripe on the other.
No chance of mixing those up.
