Head Light bulbs GL1500

Post by KAW1185 »

Good morning.

I need to replace my headlight bulbs.
What is the standard halogen bulb that is used.

Guessing I may be able to pick those up at an auto parts store?

They are standard H4 bulbs, but really, get a set of H4 LEDs meant for your GL1500. The difference is night and day (literally).

Thank you for the quick response.

Are they H4 LED plug and play with no modifications?

I went to the DIY section for the GL1500 looking for a start to finish instructions for replacing the headlight bulbs and did not see any.

Maybe I am not looking in the right area but I figured it should be somewhere.
Do we have instructions for headlight bulb replacement?

Thank you.

Now it looks like I need to have a pair of these shims if I want to replace the bulbs, with standard H4 bulbs. If this is correct where is the best placed to get them?

You only need the shims if you have changed to the new style headlight assembly 1998-2000.

Very battery and alternator friendly. One of my best upgrade decisions.

As already mentioned, original bulbs just plug in but I would recommend that if you don't go the led way then at least buy some 6K bright bulbs, that in itself will make a lot of difference.
