The 1981- 1982 had internal stators and the 1500s started in 1988 with the external alternator.

Ofcenter, i agree with you, I hope members see the sarcasm in my original post. Those alternators look a lot like some of the alternators on the aftermarket sites,

I was in no way encouraging members to buy them

Oh, I saw the sarcasm alright.
I went through two cheap Chinese alternators in a short time a few years ago.
They are crap.
I finally found an original Honda alternator and it's been fine since.
